Regarded as the fourth-oldest town in South Africa, Graaff-Reinet represents a well-preserved historic Dutch colonial settlement, set 750 (2,460 ft) above sea level on the banks of the Sundays River.
Museum-lovers will appreciate First People Centre at The Bethesda Art Centre and The Owl House. Discover out-of-the-way places like Valley of Desolation and Dutch Reformed Church, Groot Kerk. Change things up with a short trip to Mountain Zebra National Park in Cradock (about 1h 25 min away). There's still lots to do: steep yourself in history at St James the Great Church.
