Admire the traditional design and reverential atmosphere at Wat Chedi Luang Worawihan, a Buddhist temple located in Chiang Mai's historical center. King Saen Muang Ma initiated construction in the 14th century, intending to bury his father's ashes here. The project wasn't completed until the mid 15th century, and since then the temple has been rebuilt, refurbished, and redesigned on numerous occasions. Originally three separate temple areas, the sites were joined up to create the place of worship you see today, making it an area of impressive scale as well as architecture. Visit the grounds to discover its interesting and volatile history; look for the replica of the famous Emerald Buddha once housed here and the city pillar surrounded by three dipterocarp trees. Wat Chedi Luang Worawihan Reviews
土台は四角形でそれぞれの辺から中央に向かう階段... more »The temple is always listed in chiang mai's tourist information, but it is located near the centre of Chiang Mai's Old Town, making it easy to reach. The building which shines in gold shines at first in a considerably large site in the inside. There is also a splendid nag on both sides of the entrance, and I feel that this is a temple that seems to be quite high. When you look at the main shrine in the building, you can see the famous collapsed pagoda when you turn to the back of the building. The foundation is a square, and there is a stairway from each side to the center. This staircase can't be climbed, but there are historical nago statues on both sides below the stairs. In addition, the elephant only of the upper body is arranged in the middle of the tower, but a part is missing. It also lacks the tip of the tower, but it also makes you feel a kind of dignity. There are also uniquely shaped Buddha statues around the tower, and it takes more than an hour to visit them. In the evening, the sunlight hit the back and it looked very beautiful.
Nice architecture. Situated in the city. The downside is that most (if not all) notice board and signage is in Thai language. Basically I was just there to see the building. Most of the info I got lat... more »
Today we went to all the temple's in Chiang Mai. In one word just beautiful but you've to see them for your self. The best one was for sure Wat Chedi Luang. Only at this you've to pay 40 bath entry fee when most of them are free. Still worth it though. In some of temple's women are not allowed to go inside like in the Silver temple but still you can watch from the outside. The surroundings are also very beautiful.
Just beautiful! Entrance fee 40 Bath for adults - fair price. Best time to visit is in the early hours of the evening. 4:30 pm to 6:30pm Enjoy :-)
