A place of a great historical and ecological value, The Botanical Garden ensures a calm, educational, and relaxing day out amid nature. Ever since the beginning of the 20th century, the garden has served as a scientific center and a place for academic research. Some time later, during World War II, it was severely damaged, but was quickly restored to its former glory. Today, it serves as a beloved walking route for families and couples, offering the chance to admire over 1,500 different plant species distributed across 17 sections, featuring nine ponds throughout. OK for a quiet stroll, if you just want to fill in time. Well laid out though not much of interest in early February. Glasshouses a disappointment, no entry, definately need some care & attention more »
There is no entrance fee, and they have a nice variety of plants and flowers. It's a nice get a way for a short stop after a a long day, getting hot from walking. We enjoy sitting by the water under the share. It was really nice.
I visited alone midday in the second week of March. It had been raining hard all morning but right at noon the rain stopped so I pounced out of the hotel and headed for the gardens. It was easy to find and access with its central location and many entrances. I walked along the paths inside the garden in a way to cover all of the trail and see all the areas. I used google maps for this as google had added the internal garden pathways into its mapping data.
