228 Peace Memorial Park, Zhongzheng District

3.8
A European-style park dotted with memorials and museums, 228 Peace Memorial Park stands in memory to the victims of one of the most horrific massacres in Taiwan’s history. Opened in 1908, the park was renamed in 1998 as a memorial for the “228” civilian massacre on February 28, 1947 by the Kuomintang government. Stroll through the leafy paths of the park’s gardens, dotted with palms, as you make your way to the memorial pavilion, reflecting on the country’s violent past. For a more thorough history, head to the park’s memorial museum or the national Taiwan museum located at the northern entrance. • It is a park within walking distance from Taipei Station. In the park, there are sidewalks and fountains that stimulate the foot pot. Some people do Tai Chi.

  • This is one of the greatest Park I ever visited. The birds and squirrels roam freely and people are there for relaxing and enjoying nature.
  • It is a serene place to walk, sit, look at the temples. You just enjoy.
