Observe the hourly changing of the guard ceremony at the impressive National Revolutionary Martyrs' Shrine, a palace-like complex built in 1969 to commemorate deaths of nearly 400,000 soldiers, who perished serving the Republic of China against the Japanese Imperial Army and during the Civil War from 1911 to 1958. With most of the victims born in mainland China, the shrine was inspired by Beijing’s Forbidden City, and was also the funeral site of Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek’s son. Located on the scenic Mount Ching, overseeing the Keelung River, the shrine makes a popular tourist spot, lying within walking distance of Dazhi station on the Taipei metro. National Revolutionary Martyrs' Shrine Reviews
more »A 10-minute taxi ride from Grand Station on MRT Freshwater Xinyi line. There is an imposing and majestic shrine in the vast area of the mountain hem. Apart from the buildings, the attractions are the change of the guards that take place at every hour. The parade at the time of alternation, the ceremony to turn the bayonet, the appearance of soldiers who do not have a tremor after arriving at the place is a must. Let's have plenty of time to visit.
more »I saw the change of the guards in the morning. The movement of the guard who is not disturbed is pleasant to watch. It was crowded with tourists on the day, but I was able to see the guards closer than I thought in the good guidance of the security guard. Locality, you'd need moderation and respect for the viewing side, too. The soldier of the Chosen land and sea sky is taking turns in the ceremony, and the color of the uniform changes by the charge.
The ceremony of honored guard changing is solemn and neat. The people observed with respect and the discipline of a military soldier really starts with drill. A must go place. Remember it is call 忠烈祠 or the zhong lie ci or the Martyr's shrine. The toilet is on the right once u come in and there is a rest lounge for visitors too. Overall, it is clean and nicely managed.
Gendarmerie exchange only if you are interested. It is amazing that the military guards can stand for 45 minutes without moving.
