Known by locals as a "meeting place of the gods," Lungshan Temple serves as one of the oldest and most famous temples in Taiwan. Han settlers from Fujian established the temple in 1738, dedicating it to Kuan-in, the Mother of Mercy, which is represented by a statue in the main hall. This statue was left intact after the main hall was destroyed in an air-raid near the end of World War II. Over the years, the temple suffered damage from cyclones, earthquakes, and fires, but has been restored repeatedly. See numerous Taoist deities in the back hall testifying to the tolerant nature of the Chinese religions. The name of the temple translates to "Dragon Mountain," which explains the colorful dragons on the roof and the intricately carved twirling dragons on the bronze pillars at the entrance. There was a lot of people who went by taxi to Simon for a 70-base fare after dinner, and i was a little surprised by the number of homeless people who came across the street to get a taxi to the subway.View original -
more »
I went to Taiwan with my favorite kevin birth day event. I had a lot of free time, so I tried to go to Ryuzanji Temple, which is known as a tourist spot about 10 minutes from the hotel. It was a very beautiful and wonderful place. Because the night was more beautiful than the day, I went at night and it was correct.View original

A stunning and intricate place of worship, Lungshan Temple is very striking and I think it would be all too easy to pass a few hours just wandering and taking in all the sights and smells. At night, the temple is absolutely beautiful against the dark sky and the lights and colors stand out wonderfully. It’s quite crowded and when I went, there was a line of photographers camped out near the entrance, looking towards the waterfalls and waiting for the perfect shot. The whole temple is very atmospheric and despite being busy with tourists and worshippers, it feels quite tranquil against the hustle and bustle of the street and passing traffic.

One of the most beautiful and amazing temples of the city. 2-3 minutes walk from the metro station and close to the night market. I highly advise visiting this temple. You will never regret visiting it. You can have a nice walk and shopping in the markets around the temple before or after also if you wish.
