A 30 m tall (98.5 ft) and 23 m (75.5 ft) wide lava tube penetrating more than 13 km (8 mi) into the earth, Manjanggul Cave makes up part of a World Heritage Site sheltering exceptional volcanic rock formations and wildlife. Observe the world's largest lava column standing 7.6 m (25 ft) tall, and a stone shape resembling Jeju Island. Part of a larger lava tube system, the cave features the greatest number of living creatures of all tubes on the island, including bats and the Jeju cave-spider. Formed 200,000-300,000 years ago, the tunnel remains remarkably well-preserved with lava stalagmites and stalactites and cascades of funky flowstones. Watch the slippery steps and dress for 10 C (50 F). Add Manjanggul Cave to your Jeju travel itinerary, and discover new vacation ideas by using our Jeju online journey planner .

Manjanggul Cave Reviews
Make sure to wear good shoes. Also wear rain gear to keep from getting wet. Walk slow and you should be fine. Great experience and would recommend to visit. ! more »
Muss man gesehen haben. Etwas rutschig aber der 1 km Weg bis zum Ende der Höhle ist wert da am Ende eine tolle Lava Säule steht. more »Must have seen. Slightly slippery but the 1 km path to the end of the cave is worth it because at the end there is a great lava column.
Supposed to be largest lava cave in the world. Only about 1km is open to public. Very dark inside. There's informative signs along the way regarding different aspects of the cave. Really cool experience and would recommend. The cave is a bit chilly walking in and once you're in the cave there is a trail for you to walk through. There are different information signs that share more information with you in the cave. It's a bit damp and the ground is not totally smooth to walk on so need to be careful if you have small children. Visitors should note that the path is uneven, wet and tend to be slippery. Nonetheless it is still manageable when proper footwear is worn.I had a good time but it's not a full day trip, I think max maybe an hour and a half. Definitely recommend going as soon as it opens at 10. Very calm and easy to take your time with no other people around. About 1030~1100 it was getting pretty crowded. Nice for half-day trip. The cave itself isn't so "amazing" as it simply two kilometers (one each way) path in dark atmosphere (and cold so bring some cover). Would recommend combining it with the "maze land"
Walk in an actual lava tube. A bit dark inside but great photo opportunities. Not suitable for people with mobility issues. Wear sturdy shoes. You walk down stairs, then in for 1 km and walk back 1 km.
