The Owl House, Nieu-Bethesda

Enter the world of Helen Martins, an outsider artist, at The Owl House. Martins engaged in creating a visionary environment in the house she inherited and in which she spent years nursing her dying parents. Inspired by Biblical texts, William Blake’s poetry, and oriental art, she transformed the house that was once her prison into a work of art. Notice the sign in the garden saying "This is My World," standing among 300 statues of mostly camels, owls, and people. The colorfully decorated interior features sparkling walls and ceilings covered in ground glass--Helen’s signature technique.
