  • I always feel like a kid when I go to Gold Reef City. They have really amazing rides, from thrillers to the quiet ones. A complete must is the Tower of Terror, the name is self explanatory, but this is the one ride that gave me chills. The Golden Loop, Anaconda and Miners Revenge are also pretty cool. The theme park accommodates kids too and there's a dedicated kiddies section with cool rides that the little ones will enjoy. For a little bit of learning and exploration there's an animal farm, mining expos and science centers. The theme park is quite big so you might get tired from all the walking, but fortunately there is a train to help out with that. Generally a fun place to go out with friends, family or even a date. Best time to go is during school term when it is less crowded
  • Even though Gold Reef is decades old, it is constantly kept and upgraded. You'll find many fun activities here. The higher thrill rides are a must so be sure to ride the Cobra and the Golden Loop. Miners Revenge is great fun and the Jozi Express is a bit of a rougher ride but still great fun. There are too many great rides to mention on here, but they are all classic rides. Be sure to Google them. Don't worry about food because there are plenty of quality restaurants, all licensed and the prices are well suited. Service is friendly and fast. Ablutions are super neat and clean. Gold Reef is kept clean and tidy and is worth a visit.
  • I had such an amazing time at this theme park! All the rides were maintained and safety was definitely a priority for all employees. While I loved the day spent there, I was severely disappointed and worried by the state of the animal farm. There was no grass to be seen and the water in all the enclosures, specifically the ducks' pond, was filthy. There was also a lack of water in the tortoises' enclosure. The emu looked unhealthy and really had no space to run. 3 of the 4 parrots (or rather, macaws) were kept in cages that didn't seem to provide much sunlight at all as they had heavy iron framing, and most of it had been bitten through, indicating unhappiness of the birds themselves. As I said, I loved my day at Gold Reef but I do hope something is done about the animal farm. I'd give it an even higher rating if it was as well maintained as the rest of the park.
  • I've been going to Gold Reef City since I was a little boy and each time I go I am pleasantly surprised. The rides get revamped regularly and management seem to add more rides too. They try to balance the rides across the age groups so that there's something for everyone to enjoy. They have some historic buildings and even a mine tour and gold smelting show. Gives a good history of South Africa in the 1800s.
  • Excellent entertainment facilities for the entire family. The thriller rides are great. The food and games are great. I loved the museum's and history. It is the perfect location. Plan you trip for a suitable time to avoid lengthy queues.
