  • The Apartheid Museum has a collection Rico and organized, a good shop (without wi-fi when I went) and organized environment. It is not allowed to take pictures in your interior. Brings together permanent collection and temporary exhibitions. We went with the City sight seeing, even gives discount on admission.

  • Wow! One of the BEST museums I've been to. There's only so much of a people's story that can be fitted on a wall. Despite the limitations, this museum puts in a tremendous, unapologetic attempt and the stories are both breathtaking and heart wrenching. It's not an easy story, but it is told with sincerity. The photography on display is amazing!!! A note that you cannot take pictures once you are inside the museum. There's lots to see and a lot of reading if you would like to find out more beyond what the very expressive photography displays. I wished for more time and no kids, to savor the amazing history.
  • One of the world's most important museums. It leads people through a powerful and emotional experience of the state-sanctioned system of racial discrimination and the path to justice of confronting of the oppression. This museum sheds light on what life was like under apartheid. The exhibits are brilliantly curated in a beautiful and haunting space.
  • One of the best museums I've ever visited. Definitely takes you back to those gruesome times. While providing a balanced and informative view of the how, when and why. Definitely plan at least four hours for it though!
  • It’s one of the most amazing and strong memory museums that I’ve ever visited. It gives you a clear idea of the context of apartheid plus an overall recent history of South Africa. For anyone interested in memory institutions this is a must see venue in Johannesburg. In my personal opinion and experience you need at least 3 to 4 hours to visit the permanent exhibition.
  • You might get emotional here. It’s a sad part of history that most would want to forget. But knowing this piece of history will ensure that we don’t go back to treating each other like “those” days. A must visit. There’s a restaurant on site. Choose a chicken burger from their menu, it was really delicious.
