The Whale House Museum Reviews
Small museum that is great for children. Its quite informative and educational. The ticket includes entry into the photo museum as well. more »
This museum appears to be aimed at children or people who are not very curious. The details on the posters were very sparse and basic. But at R20 - probably value for money. more »
Unfortunately various interactive elements out of order which sadly distracts a bit from an otherwise informative and interesting attraction. Display boards was good and the whale skeleton has the wow factor. Only R5 for a child and then R20 for adult, so does nit break the bank. Ticket gets you access to next door photo exibit and old harbour.
Very interesting artifacts but need proper curatorship and funding to show the fishing and whaling history in that era. Also need restoration of some of the exhibits. How did the people control the small row boats in the old harbor to go to sea and come back to shore with their catch is just amazing. Nice old photos in the other museum's show the old town's outlay and living conditions. One however cannot take pictures of these. Only wish/ hope these were captured on digital media in case the originals are destroyed in fires.
