#1 of 36 in Wineries in Cape Town
Groot Constantia represents one of South Africa's oldest wine estates, with origins dating back to the late 1600s. This fully operational farm boasts a rich 300-year history. Insired by the late Dutch Renaissance style, the site's original manor house featured white marble and red stone. You can take a bus tour to see best views of the vineyards and the estate itself, or take a guided cellar tour and experience first-hand how the wine is made. Be sure to stop at the estate's museum, which offers a glimpse into its rich history. Discover how to plan a Cape Town trip in just a few steps with Inspirock's itinerary builder.

  • We visited the Jonkershuis restaurant for our year end lunch. Enjoyed every minute of it. We were seated outside under the trees and took in the spectacular view! The food was really good (we selected the celebration menu) and fantastic value for money. I even had a chance to purchase some wines to take home. Overall a wonderful experience and will definitely return!
  • Great experience eating at the restaurant. Epic views and tranquility. Did not do the wine tasting, but I did buy some great wines. The lovely lady at the counter assisted me with a sample of their excellent Pinotage. Can't wait to go back and do the wine tour.
  • What a beautiful setting. Really busy in season, but still a great experience with amazing wine. You even get to keep your tasting glass.
  • The atmosphere in the courtyard is wonderful with a chic/rustic feel, it gives you the feeling of an outside space without having to deal with the extremities of the Cape Town weather. The snoek patê is fantastic. And it's hard to go wrong with the Groot Constantia wines. We also had a lovely waiter who was attentive and who had us at ease from the word go. Overall a great experience.
  • Food was just above average, each specification of meat we ordered was not prepared to the way it was supposed to be, definitely overcooked, unfortunately i arrived too late to taste the wine. I really did enjoy the location and environment though, absolutely beautiful.
