Signal Hill, Cape Town Central

4.6
Drive to Signal Hill for panoramic views of Cape Town, including Table Mountain and Robben Island. You can reach the hilltop on a short, picturesque drive from town, and once there, have a picnic, hike up to the adjacent Lion's Head Hill, or take a romantic evening walk for a chance to capture some unforgettable sunset images. Wandering the plateau, you'll come across a number of "kramats," sacred tombs dedicated to various Muslim missionaries. Signal Hill is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our online itinerary creator, Cape Town Edition.

  • We visited on a trike tour to watch the sunset. It's very, very popular so expect a lot of cars and a lot of people - getting out at the end is a slow process. Some people must have been stuck there f...  more »
  • The visit of the mountain, the back and also referred to as the little brother of table mountain, is worthwhile in any case. From here, you have a magnificent views of Cape Town. At sunset, it is romantic and you can get under the stars of southern Africa into raptures. The frame for a picture with table mountain in the background is a great idea. With a little luck you can watch hang-gliders up close at the start.

  • A nice winding road drive uphill brought us to signal hill. We were amazed by the variety of colours we could see before and during sunset. There is also this huge yellow metal frame you can sit in and get the table mountain in the background. Spent some time absorbing the beauty of nature. You can also see a view of 12 apostles. A short stop on the way back was made to click a few pictures of the city illuminated by night lights. Since it was nearing 8 we decided to come back home.
  • Beautiful view! You can go there by car but the parking space is mostly really full. You can take good pictures and watch a beautiful sunset. There are mostly lots of people!!
  • A must see for everybody that visits Cape Town. Located next to Tabel mounted and lions head. Signal hill is the perfect place to take in Cape Town with a 360 view of the whole city and the beautiful blue ocean. It is the perfect place so start or end your tour of Cape Town. Signal Hill is even more beautiful at night when the light of Cape Town light up the night sky.
  • One of the best places to watch a beautiful sunset, have a picnic, or just wander through nature. For the sunset views, the ground on the side of the hill is covered with a mat for everyone to sit on, or your picnic blanket. There are toilet and ablution facilities. Limited parking available at the top, but cars are able to park on the sides of the road.
  • What an amazing place to watch the sun set.. Ensure you have a blanket as the wind makes place cold in the evening.. Go with a cup of coffee or any hot drink.. Better yet, go with a picnic basket and enjoy dinner..
