  • Although small, there's a lot of history of South Africa and Apartheid. Worth visiting.

  • It was definitely worth booking one of the guided tours for this little museum, as it gave us a real insight into what life was like for the people who lived through the forced evacuations. The tour w...  more »

  • Enjoyed the museum especially given how sad the topic is and why it came about -they laid it out in an easy to digest manor that wasn't too overwhelming emotionally. A great place to take kids also, like I did. I feel kids need to learn about important topics like how humans treated each other and how we have evolved to be better, more compassionate and more accepting. I especially liked chatting to a young man called Dean. He worked at the museum and was so informative.
  • It's a great place to learn some history of South Africa. Take a tour if you're short on time - that way you can maximize the visit. If you have the time, you could roam around and read the exhibits one by one. The entrance fee is reasonable too.
  • Mandatory stop if you are visiting the cape town. We paid to go on a guided trip, I believe it is the best way to visit the museum. Without the guide, the museum becomes kind of boring just with text and images.
  • Wonderfully engaging and informative tour by Ruth, a former resident of District 6. Her heartfelt account brought the story of oppression and segregation to life. Well worth taking one of the hourly tours - ask for Ruth!
  • Definitely worth the visit! Can choose to have a self-guided tour or with one of the former residents of old District Six where they tell about their lives before the forced removals and segregation laws during Apartheid. And their cafè is great! Hint: havr their milk tart
