Hermanus

Renowned as a premier whale-watching destination, Hermanus grew from a quaint fishing village nestled on Walker Bay.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Hemingways of Hermanus and The Book Collector. Do your shopping at Funky Vibes and Peregrine Farm Stall. When in Hermanus, make a side trip to see Dolphin & Whale Watching in Gansbaai, approximately 34 minutes away. And it doesn't end there: stroll through Grotto Beach, stop by Hermanuspietersfontein Wines, learn about winemaking at Domaine Des Dieux, and don't miss a visit to Hoy's Koppie.

Do a combination of flight and taxi from Plettenberg Bay to Hermanus in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of bus and taxi. Traveling from Plettenberg Bay in August, Hermanus is a bit cooler at night with lows of 9°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 20th (Sun) early enough to travel to Swellendam.

Swellendam

Regarded as South Africa's third-oldest town, Swellendam contains over 50 provincial heritage sites and well-preserved examples of Cape Dutch architecture.
Do your shopping at Newly Defined & African Pickers and Montagu Village Market. Explore hidden gems such as Platform 62 and Drostdy Museum. Change things up with a short trip to Riversdale Old Jail / Die Tronk in Riversdale (about 1h 30 min away).
