Located within a larger park commemorating the bombing of Hiroshima, Atomic Bomb Dome haunts with the memory of the lives lost during the attack. Now designated as a World Heritage Site, the former exhibition hall was the only building that remained standing near the bomb's hypocenter; today, it memorializes the 70,000 who perished immediately in the bombing, as well as the additional 70,000 who passed away from the bomb's aftereffects. Though you cannot enter the ruin, you can approach and circle the surrounding gate to see light flooding through the skeleton of the building. Atomic Bomb Dome Reviews
Na een kwartiertje lopen zijn we aangekomen in het vredes park. Het is een prachtig park ter herdenking, de koepel is heftig om te zien, te denken wat er allemaal is gebeurd! more »After a fifteen minute walk we arrived in the peace park. It's a beautiful park to commemorate, the dome is fierce to see, thinking what has happened!
La visite du musée et du dôme s'impose . Émouvant et on y apprend et voit des choses mal connues en Europe . Terrible et tragique histoire . more »A visit to the museum and the dome is a must. Emotional and we learn and see things little known in Europe . Terrible and tragic story .
It was the most profound experiences of my life. It is one thing to read and watch on TV the horrors of Atomic bomb, but to actually see and hear from survivers is surreal. I will never forget, and I truly hope the world doesn't. The people of this city are beyond amazing, they are friendly (I have never seen such hospitality before and I have traveled to many countries and cities), kind and make you appreciate and be happy to visit this wonderful place.
Well kept and cared for area. It is an amazing and must see site for any tourist. It is a truly inspiring and emotion provoking experience. It is a short walk from the Peace Park and there are a number of places to stop for a break, food and drinks. There are also a number of volunteers around to ask questions.
